We are excited to inform you that starting Friday, November 15th, our school will begin using the OpenGate weapon detection system. This is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and visitors. The school will continue to operate as usual, but please be aware that during the first few days of implementation, there may be slight delays as we work to make this process as smooth and efficient as possible.

Students will still be permitted to carry their bookbags through the system as normal. However, for safety reasons, certain items will need to be handed over to school personnel before students pass through the detection system. These items include:

• Umbrellas

• 3-ring binder notebooks

• Hard glass cases

• Laptops/computers

If the detection system alerts for any reason, the student’s belongings will be carefully inspected by school personnel to ensure no prohibited items are present. Rest assured, this process will be handled discreetly and efficiently to minimize disruption to the school day.

For your convenience, we sent a video via parent link text that explains how the system works and what to expect. We encourage you to watch it to familiarize yourself and your children with the new procedures.

Your child’s safety is our top priority, and we believe that the OpenGate system will be an effective measure in maintaining a secure learning environment. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we implement this important initiative.
